To delete a group with child links, the Delete all objects below checkbox must be checked, otherwise the operation will fail. Deleting recursively will erase all objects below, and there is no undo button! If an object has a second link outside of the deleted group tree structure, the object will only be unlinked in the deleted structure, leaving the outside object untouched.
