The External Site widget can feed the contents of an arbitrary webpage into the widget.
The external webpage must be accessible from the browser running the dashboard web application.

The Website defined in Target must be accessible from the browser running the dashboard web application.
Most browsers do not allow to load content from HTTP sites if the original site is loaded over HTTPS. That means if the URL in the browser's address bar starts with https:// one can only use target URLs starting with https://. http:// won't work. Of course, relative URLs always work.
External sites are displayed within an iFrame which has a default height of ca. 150px. To customize the height of the iFrame, use the widget's Min height setting.
